Tim has extensive experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, including prosecuting patent applications, defending and enforcing patent rights, and monetizing intellectual property. Tim is also a trained and experienced dispute resolution professional who provides arbitration and mediation services.

Tim practiced intellectual property law at Perkins Coie and served as Chief Counsel at Intellectual Ventures. In addition to experience with patent prosecution, complex litigation, and patent licensing, he has extensive experience with USPTO PTAB proceedings and Federal Circuit appeals. He has managed large and diverse intellectual property portfolios for large companies, assisted companies in obtaining investment funding, and developed and executed major licensing campaigns. Tim also has experience with general business matters, including mergers and acquisitions, labor law, compliance, government acquisition, and aviation law. Tim is a highly effective negotiator and a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP).

Tim earned his law degree from Seattle University, summa cum laude, and holds a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from the USAF Academy. Tim also holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, a master’s in business administration, and is a graduate of the United States Air Force Test Pilot School. In addition to his experience as an attorney, Tim is a proven problem solver, and has extensive experience as a manager, leader, and engineer. Tim’s broad experience helps companies identify, protect, and use their intellectual property to build value in their business.
